Tales of Dark: Shadow's Danger

Quiet…quiet and dark, two things that he never stood up in his life, and now the two of them were surrounding him as he was crossing through the Sioad’na Caves. He could hear the drops of water that were falling from the ceiling on the ground. All around him hundred of bats were watching him with their little red eyes as if they were waiting for an opening to attack him. Thought it was completely dark, he could see clearly where he was because of his eyes….two white gems brightening in all that darkness which allowed him to see clearly no matter if it was day or night. That was the ability of every warrior from the Kingdom of Light, an ability that allowed them to become the most powerful Kingdom of all since the Kingdom of Dark wasn’t a threat anymore being entirely wiped out. He never understood… he never understood why his uncle, the former ruler of Kada’ria, now dead, conspired along with other Kingdoms to attack the Kingdom of Dark, but he trusted him and he fought against the warriors from the Kingdom of Dark.
Now, for a month or even better, since the death of Ore’st, the kingdom remained without a ruler, except his daughter who ran away for better then two weeks. This was the reason he was now there..He was searching for his little cousin, and for this he must get through the caves since it was the only way of leaving the Kingdom of Light which was isolated from the rest of the world by a chain of mountains, and protected by powerful spells. Now, his father was the regent of the Kingdom and he forbidden any trips between them and the others except the allied Kingdoms, and his father was the one who two nights before he started his journey , made him a offer that he couldn’t possibly refuse: to be the king of the Kada’ria Throne. “How can that be possible? “ he remembered asking his father in the throne room when they were all alone. “Just do what I say and in no time, we’ll have you sitting in this throne I’m sitting right now. First of all you must find Ned’ara and bring her back here.” He looked in his father’s eyes and saw something that made him feel strange, afraid. He knew Nad’ara since they were little and he was like a brother to her, being always there when she needed help and always making her laugh, they also were almost the same age. He was very concerned not to put her in any danger through his father’s plan. “How Nad’ara is’s returning going to make me the ruler” asked his father who smiled and told him slowly: “You’ll going to marry her!” Those last words wake him up from his memories. Sure, the girl was very beautiful but to ever think of marrying with her….that was insane and he knew that she would never do that even if his father told him that she’ll approve as soon as he gets to speak with her back at the castle.
Suddenly, a strange sound was heard behind him, but he didn’t turn around, he continued walking. The sound was getting closer and closer and he soon realized that it was the sound of steps. He drew his sword half away and stopped but he didn’t turn back, he remained like a statue in the dark. The sound was louder and louder until he could even sense the breathe of the one who was stalking him. He drew his sword completely and in one blink he turned around attacking. A metallic sound filled the cave as the other person defended his strike. He could see now the one that stalked him, but only from behind as because he was with one knee down, and with the back at him. A shining blade could be seen in his left hand. He was all dressed in black, and he slowly rose up. A short laughing was heard as he was turning around. “Gad’ank, what are you doing here?” his voice was full of surprise when he saw the head of the Assassin Group stalking him. “Well, well, if isn’t the son of the regent Fara’k…how are you doing Ra’on?” The man replied amusedly. He had the same eyes as him because of the dark, but inside them the young man could sense a burning desire of killing. “You haven’t answered me, and I demand an answer, now!” The man dressed in black, went his hand through his brown short hair and answered him. “I’m on a mission of recovery, and possibly elimination. “ Ra’on knew that already, because those were the only missions besides torturing, that the man in front of him could be assigned for. “Who is the target?” asked him, and looked straight into his eyes. “Ned’ara” replied full of joy the man and rose his sword up to his chest, then putted it into the scabbard tied of his belt. “You must be kidding, she’s the heir of this Kingdom! “His voice was trembling with fear...not for him; it was for Ned’ara, the cousin that without her knowledge was now in danger. “That may be so, but I have a mission to accomplish, I don’t care who the target is as long I can kill it” Those words coming from his mouth made Ra’on feel like throwing up. He realized that he had in front of him a monster who’s only desire was to see his sword slashing somebody’s else throat, to see the blood coming from his enemy’s wounds, and what was the worst of all, was that he had no reason for his killing, he just hided his actions under the pretext of doing missions for the Kingdom, for serving the Throne of Kada’ria. The young man didn’t understood why his father let him free, until a question made in his mind…a question of which answer was afraid to know, but he still asked the assassin. “Who ordered the attack?” The man started laughing so loud that the walls of the cave carried his voice in the entire cave returning it as an echo. “Isn’t that obvious, the Assassin Group it’s only loyal to one man in this Kingdom, the Ruler, of in this case the regent of the king, your father, but if you’ll excuse me now, I have mission to accomplice” he started walking toward Ra’on and bypassed him slowly while laughing.
Inside Ro’an’s head a lot of things started to make him feel like going crazy. First of all was the desolated feeling of being betrayed by his father, of worse, being fooled by him. Secondly, was his cousin, the heir who was in deep danger. Then, in that moment he felt like he had to do something, and without think too much he did it. He pointed his sword to Gad’ank’s head and he attacked him from behind. It all happened in a flash, so fast that the young man didn’t even saw it coming. He never got to reach with his sword at the man’s throat; he only scratched it with the edge of his sword while Gad’ank’s sword had pierced his right shoulder. He retreated a few steps back. To attack an assassin which all his life killed in the shadow, and who expected to be taken from behind was a foolish thing to do, but know he had no choise; he had to finish this fight. The man smiled while he raised his sword bringing the blade full of blood in front of his face. The smell of blood was like a drug to him. He suddenly pointed the edge of the sword at Ra’on and he engaged him. From that moment, he realized that he becomes an enemy and the only thing left for him was to fight. He rose up exactly when the sword was almost to cut his head. The next attack was barely deflected by his sword and for a moment his arms went numb from the power of the attack. He knew that he is inferior to him in close combat, he’s speed was lower; he was physical strength as well, so he had no chance. Ra’on raised his left hand and closed his eyes for a moment. His hand turned in a bright light that was glowing brighter and brighter. Then he raised his other hand with the sword and he touched the hilt of the sword with the glowing hand and all the light transferred from the left hand to the right hand and the sword that was all covered with light. He jumped back a couple of feet and he swung his sword like he was going to cut the air. After the blow, a ray of light was released from the edge of the sword and headed Gad’ank, but he avoided it by jumping high into the air. The ray of light went in the wall making it crumble and a deep mark was left in it. He then released blow after blow trying to hit his enemy but he was too fast, avoiding or deflecting it in the last moment. His aim was also not very clearly because of the wound in his shoulder, so half of the blows were wasted without aim. Gad’ank was laughing while avoiding the blasts frustrating him even more so seeing that his attacks have no effect, he took the sword into his hands and raised it with the edge heading the ceiling. His muscles all over the body started to grow as he was concentrating. The ground started to shake for a moment, and after that an explosion of light covered the cave. In front of the assassin almost a new man appeared, with a light aura around him his eyes changed their color becoming black, His hair turned from white blue to dark blue and without a word he attacked. Gad’ank, s chest was cut in a blink of an eye and he barely avoided death. “So …this is how you want to fight?” After his words, he started to get serious and he headed towards the young man. Their swords crossed and the ground started to tremble while the pressure rose up. “I don’t have time for this...I have to reach to Gris’tol” said the assassin and jumped back. He putted his sword into the scabbard and then he raised his hands towards Ra’on. A ray of light emerged and headed the young man. He deflected the first time with his sword but the ray didn’t stop and after crushing into a wall, it headed again toward him, but this time divided in to rays which captured him and putted him at the wall, knocking him to the ground so hard that he was barely able to move. The rays of light disappeared and the assassin approached Ra’on slowly and smiling, he putted a hand on his injured shoulder. He pressed that hard that the man was almost to pass out from the intensity of the pain.
“Kill me already and let’s end this” said Ra’on bleeding, and he waited for the final blow. Instead of that, Gad’ank turned away and begun walking. “Say thanks to your father, because of him you’re still breathing after crossing your blade with me….you’re the second one to do that. The other one was pathetically a child, long time ago in the Kingdom of Dark” After telling that he disappeared into the deeps of the cave. The Ra’on tried, and after several tries he succeeded in rising up from the ground. Although he was bad injured, none of the wounds were fatal and he started walking slowly. He still had a chance of preventing Ned’ara from the assassin that was after her…
